Goodbye Scotland!

Week 16 of the Trident Perpetual Festival at Loopallu in Ullapool has been brilliant. The only bad thing really is that the festival only lasts two days. Yes, it bucketed down with rain the whole time and yes it was freezing cold and muddy - but the people of Scotland made the whole adventure brilliant. Ullapool is usually home to just 1,200 people, and the villagers really make the 2000 extra inhabitants feel welcome and looked after in their brief festival stay. There's a bookshop and a pharmacy and a supermarket, postoffice and police station - and that's all anyone really needs. We even spotted people projecting films onto a wall of a house yesterday as a makeshift cinema. In terms of a setting, it's right up there with Croatia as one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen for a festival. Musically it was grand too - though myself and my pal Pete ended up most enjoying the local covers-bands that got people dancing between sets in the bar tent. We had some fun singing along last night to some Status Quo classics. Now it's 10am and we've driven back to Inverness for our flight to London, where I then go right onto Ibiza. Early rising views in Scotland....

This morning I woke at 6am so we could drive back to the airport and head home. I wandered across the campsite to the loos - and on exiting the toilets was faced with this incredible sunrise across the highlands. So totally stunning in fact that I took about 10 photos of the exact same thing. I bumped into a security guard who was also having a gander. "Bonnie eh?" he said. So I smiled.

Poor little doggy stuck in a backpack and unable to dance.. Woof! I went and spoke to his owners and apparently he is a massive fan of The Magic Numbers (I just made that up).

Oh dear..

Who'd have thought I have a degree in illustration? I've obviously lost all skill since graduating and am now reduced to such low artistic outputs as painted shells. Well, I figured it's my duty to sample all aspects of festival life right? Not just music and food and people and drink and camping.. But art classes for children too. Shell now going for £1000 on eBay. Or for free via Trident Facebook. ;)

Hello!

Happy Saturday from me! It freezing cold here - and I am wearing all my clothes all at once - but it's so beautiful and fresh and fun that I am having a great time! Here I am on the beach with a nice coffee to keep me warm. Hello everyone! Katie x

Guess which one is my tent..

It's my final week of UK camping so I decided to bust-out my old tent I used to take to festivals as a rocking teenager. It's grimy and barely waterproof these days, but seemed a fitting home before I wave goodbye to the UK and head abroad for the rest of the year.. :)

This place is amazing. Set right on the edge of the water.. You can hang out on the pebble beach and skim stones. Bit too cold to swim though!

Anyways... Gloria bought me some light-up bunny ears to wear around the site. Makes for a rather wonderful torch!
